The diverse team of technical and engineering personnel at
Commodore Advance Sciences, Inc. (CASI) have a field proven in-depth expertise
in every aspect of hazardous, radioactive and mixed waste management including
sampling and analysis, waste acceptance criteria, regulatory compliance,
tracking systems, system/recovery design, treatment alternatives and
coordination of interim and final disposition. CASI' waste specialists have a
working knowledge of available treatment, storage and disposal options for
hazardous and mixed waste streams and integrate the most cost-effective options
into project waste management plans. During planning for remedial action and decontamination and decommissioning projects, CASI' interdisciplinary team integrates waste controls and minimization alternatives and approaches into all work activities minimizing project costs, but most importantly, ensuring compliance and minimizing risk and future liability to our clients. REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCESITE RESTORATION AND WASTE MANAGEMENT SUPPORT AT ROCKY FLATS ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY SITE (DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY). CASI has provided environmental and waste management support to the RFETS for over 14 years. CASI' tasking at RFETS includes managing the bioassay sample management program, collecting and managing a variety of environmental and waste samples, as well as sample handling, packaging and shipping. In addition, CASI' specialized sampling team is extensively trained to collect samples from most media, including asbestos, paint, explosive and reactive chemicals, and hazardous, radioactive and mixed wastes, often working in highly radioactive and hazardous areas. CASI collects waste samples from wells, sumps, drains, process lines, tanks, drums and pits as well as building foundations and structures for characterization and D&D programs. All members of the team are Certified Asbestos Inspectors and have the necessary training in the Department of Transportation's hazardous material regulations. WASTE ISOLATION PILOT PLANT TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CONTRACT, DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY CARLSBAD AREA OFFICE. CASI had been the technical assistance contractor for the DOE Carlsbad Area Office since 1990. Overall project management support was provided for several major tasks including: |

WASTE CERTIFICATION SUPPORT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY OAK
RIDGE NATIONAL LABORATORY (ORNL) SURVEILLANCE & MAINTENANCE (S&M)
PROGRAM. The ORNL S&M program generates more than 10,000
cubic feet of radioactive, hazardous and mixed waste per year. CASI' Waste
Certification Officer expedites the waste disposal process by certifying waste
generated during activities conducted at remedial action sites and D&D
facilities. This includes properly segregating, packaging, characterizing and
manifesting waste to verify that the waste acceptance criteria are met for the
appropriate on-site or off-site storage or disposal facility. WASTE MANAGEMENT SUPPORT UNDER THE BECHTEL JACOBS COMPANY LLC M&I CONTRACT IN OAK RIDGE, TENNESSEE. Under the Facility Management Contract and the Remedial Action Decontamination and Decommissioning Task Order Contract at the East Tennessee Technology Park, CASI is responsible for all waste management activities including preparation of waste management plans, certification of all waste streams generated during performance of the contracts, and coordination of interim and final disposition of the wastes. These wastes include radiologically contaminated wastes, asbestos pipe insulation, hazardous chemicals, PCB spill wastes and mixed wastes. CASI is also providing the design and construction drawings for a reinforced concrete and structural steel loading facility required for loading of spent nuclear fuel and remote handled low level waste shipping casks. GUNITE AND ASSOCIATED TANKS, OAK RIDGE, TENNESSEE. CASI characterizes and coordinates the disposal of the radioactive, trausuranic and hazardous debris generated by the removal of an estimated 50,000 gallons of highly radioactive sludge by robotic equipment from old process tanks at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. WASTE STORAGE DESIGN/CONSTRUCTION PROJECT FOR COMMERCIAL COMPANY. CASI is performing the facility assessment, tank and sub-system engineering design, construction, installation and operating procedures for a self-contained storage recovery vessel and associated piping/pumping systems for consolidated waste stream accumulation and interim storage. |
