Waste Management & Treatment
Announcing a new process for Removal of Reactive Metals from Metal Surfaces : Alkali Metals AND Ammonia (AMANDA)
Read more about AMANDA.
Commodore offers an innovative alternative to incineration for some of the world’s most difficult environmental waste treatment issues. Commodore’s Solvated Electron Technology (SET) is a primary tool for destroying a number of difficult hazardous compounds. SET applications include the destruction of PCBs, dioxins, pesticides, and other halogenated organic compounds in mixed waste, soil, oil, metal surfaces, piping, and other matrices that are difficult to treat by conventional methods. Additionally, the SET process neutralizes chemical weapons and explosives. The SET process destroys target compounds to below regulatory limits, allowing burial in permitted landfills in accordance with Land Disposal Restrictions (LDRs).
Highlights of SET:
- The process is cost-effective — the SET equipment can be scaled to accommodate the size of the project. The system requires minimal amounts of power, water, and other outside support.
- Organic contaminants are destroyed, not just removed or concentrated - there can be no recombination.
- Operates as a closed system - produces no hazardous secondary wastes or off-gases.
- EPA-approved non-thermal alternative for incineration of TSCA and RCRA Hazardous Waste.
- Permits are easily obtained for site operations.
- Operates at ambient temperatures.
- Handles heterogeneous waste streams from liquids to solids.
